a 70 m² flat with a cellar
In the midst of the town, the district known as “Old Tours” is one of the oldest and has had French “Site Patrimonial Remarquable” (Outstanding Heritage Site) classification since 2016. Everything is within easy walking distance from this historic, shopping district; for instance, Tours covered market is just 5 minutes away. The tramway, schools, the banks of the river Loire and the TGV train station which, 15 minutes away, has 1-hour train links to Paris.
This flat is in a one-way, semi-pedestrian street, linking the historic district to the banks of the Loire. It is lined with old, private buildings from between the 15th and 19th centuries.
This flat is on the first floor. The entrance door opens into a spacious living room. Facing south-east and featuring two tall windows, it is pleasantly bathed in copious amounts of light. An impressive period, freestone fireplace is in good working order. This square room is further enhanced with exposed freestone walls, half-timbering, beams and terracotta floor tiles. A little vestibule provides access to a bedroom, with the same original decor, also facing south-east with two tall windows and a freestone fireplace. A fitted kitchen with a window faces north. A very modern bathroom and toilet. The windows overlooking the street are sound-proofed with double glazing.
A cellar can be reached via the tower.
It is difficult to feel more in Tours than here. The district is emblematic, the banks of the river Loire are just a stone’s throw away and the town centre at hand. The building and the flat take visitors back to a long distant era, when construction materials and decors were tastefully chosen and used. This excellent taste is such that new residents will immediately feel at ease in such a place. Its conversion to include modern-day home comforts was therefore the most natural thing in the world.
