This 18th century house, in the midst of the historic town centre of Bagneux, with its village atmosphere, is near to shops, a Sunday market and numerous good schools, with an infant school just a few metres away. Buses into Paris leave from Place-Dampierre. The underground lines 4 and 13 are but a 2-minute bus ride away. Paris is less than 5 minutes away by car via Porte-d’Orléans.
Several green open spaces flank Bagneux town centre, including Richelieu and Puits-Saint-Georges Parks. Château-de-Sceaux Park is less than 5 minutes away by car or 10 minutes by bike via a verdant stretch known as the Coulée-Verte.


This 3-storey building is built on the edge of the town’s main square. A peaceful area, it is surrounded by old houses and the attractive Saint-Hemeland’s church, dating from the 12th century. For many years this residence was home to the local mayors and up until 1875 was the administrative town hall.
This house, built of Paris stone, spans three floors. Its majestic entrance features two columns, flanking double wooden gates. A small wooden courtyard decorates the front of the property, whilst a majestic horseshoe-shaped stone stairway leads up to a porch, topped with an elegant canopy. All the window frames and the shutters are made of wood, thus preserving the house’s authenticity.

The property

Ground floor
The ground floor comprises two rooms and a vestibule, providing access to a stairway dating from the time the house was first constructed. This wide, bright vestibule has stone floor tiles. It leads to a first room, with parquet flooring and ceiling moulding, illuminated by two windows. This room is currently in use as a consulting room but could easily be transformed into a large bedroom. A superb built-in bookshelf unit takes up the longest wall. The second room on the ground floor comprises two reception areas, overlooking the garden behind the house. A shower room and a toilet complete this level.
First floor
Upstairs, a triple reception room, facing south and west, constitutes a vast area, illuminated by five large windows. A separate kitchen, with terracotta floor tiles, overlooks the house’s private garden. A 6 m² storeroom is ideal for storing miscellaneous products.
Second floor
The second floor includes two bedrooms and a bathroom. The bright master bedroom is illuminated by three windows. Facing south-west, this spacious room is very quiet and adjoins a large dressing room.
The second bedroom, also facing south-west, is slightly smaller. The bathroom is fitted with an old-fashioned wash-hand basin as well as a bath.

Third floor
Two large bedrooms have been laid out in the attic space. Both areas harmoniously feature large, old oak wood beams. Large skylights set in the sloping roof let in copious amounts of light.
The cellar is the oldest part of the house. A vaulted area, it features floor-to-ceiling exposed stone. This semi-underground level is both vast and sound. A machine room houses a boiler and a laundry room area. Another section is given over to the laying down of wine.

Our opinion

Despite the fact that Bagneux is developing, its town centre has managed to keep an air of an old provincial village, making it a very pleasant place to live. This house is near to many green open spaces, small shops and lively markets. The arrival of the underground stations via the extension of line 4 and the Grand-Paris line are major assets for moving around Paris and its surroundings. The various rooms make it possible to imagine a large family home that could accommodate professional areas.
