Legal Informations & CGU
The geographic position of Luçon, the former bishopric of which Cardinal-de-Richelieu was titular, in the centre of the large plain in the French department of Vendée, 10 km from the Bay of Aiguillon and 20 km from the Coast of Light, has many assets. La Rochelle, with its TGV train station and its airport, with flights to large English and Belgian towns, is but 40 km away and Les-Sables-d'Olonne is 50 km away. Luçon is also near to two major roads: the A83 and the A87 motorways. Nantes, Poitiers and even Angers are within easy reach. The Nantes-Bordeaux train line goes through the town. Luçon not only has many historic monuments, it also has the outstanding Dumaine Gardens. This dynamic town has all amenities and schools.
The mansion house
Identified on the first land registry of the town as of 1704, the external appearance of the building is classical with eleven openings, fitted with wooden or slatted shutters. Such architectural discretion is regularly to be found in Luçon. Consequently, the town “elders” can only be seen once past their entrance gates. The current owners have, moreover, restored the premises totally in keeping with their character. This U-shaped mansion house, with masonry composed of dressed stone and quarry stone blocks, spans approx. 360 m² and includes seven bedrooms. It has all modern-day home comforts, together with double-glazed openings. Heating is provided by a mains’ gas condensing boiler dating from 2012. Outside, two enclosed patios, filled with flowers, enable residents to rest in the shade, out of sight of onlookers.
Discretion and soberness are the words that come to mind when describing this property; soothing and protective such are its functions. Taking full advantage of the ocean climate, the department of Vendée has a comparable amount of sunshine to those in the south of the Mediterranean. The vegetation resembles that of the south of France and the shade provided by the tall palm trees is an invitation to laze by the side of the swimming pool or on one of the property’s well-protected patios. Residents in the centre of town can opt for cultural outings, take advantage of the shopping streets or travel a few kilometres to the seaside and make the most of the fine sandy beaches. The luxurious countryside of the Poitevin marshland bordering Luçon awaits those who prefer freshwater. This house, with its modern-day home comforts and its welcoming atmosphere, will be especially appreciated when returning from long, sometimes windy, walks.
