A 10-minute walk from a train station with 80-minute links to Paris. 45 minutes from an airport with regular, direct flights to Marseille, London, Dublin, Marrakech and Porto. Between the Loire and Cher rivers, in a region much appreciated by the kings of France for its mild climate. In the centre of a town, with 3,000 inhabitants and a wealth of architectural features dating from the medieval era.


Although in a relatively dense district, these detached houses are surrounded by their garden. Set between two parallel streets, this entirely enclosed property has two entrances, one on the south side and the other on the north side. The most recent, most luxurious house stands on the north side of the property, parallel to the street. The other house stands at right angles on the edge of the west side of the property. This house is extended by a double open carport, topped with a flat.
An annex building, currently in use as an exercise room, is topped with a terrace.

The 20th century house

This traditional, Mansard style house stands over a semi-underground basement. Constructed of white stone, it has arched windows, triangular pediments with pilasters and a slate Mansard style roof, featuring bull’s eye windows and roof dormers. The electric heating is controlled via a thermostat in every room.
The inside reflects what can be seen from the outside: a home where comfort blends with quality materials including panelling, a stairway enhanced with wrought iron railings and a brass handrail as well as floors covered with beautiful, good quality stone.

This 83 m² basement can be reached via the outside or via the kitchen. It comprises a workshop, a laundry room, a woodstore and a wine cellar.
Ground floor
The bright, spacious entrance hall provides access to the main rooms on the ground floor. The floor and stairway are made of travertine stone and most of the walls are covered with bookshelf units or panelling. The L-shaped living room features Versailles pattern oak wood parquet flooring, panelling and numerous cupboards. The modern, designer kitchen is both refined and sophisticated. There is also a through bedroom, a bathroom, with a shower and a separate toilet, a dressing room and a toilet.
First floor
The landing provides access to five bedrooms, one of which has its own bathroom and toilet, another has a dressing room area. A toilet and a shower room. There are a number of cupboards in each bedroom and a bookshelf unit on the landing.

The 19th century house

Constructed in 1830, this building was then redesigned and extended in the 20th century. It currently houses two holiday rental accommodation units. The smaller of the two is a 47 m², 2-roomed flat. It is laid out above a carport. It features oak wood parquet flooring, white walls, simple, fashionable decoration and electric heating.
The bigger of the two holiday rental accommodation units spans 143 m². It comprises an entrance hall, with a toilet, a living room, with panelling, a fireplace and floor tiles, a large kitchen and a storeroom. A large bedroom on a mezzanine has a view over the river Cher. The upstairs includes a shower room, a toilet and two bedrooms. It has mains gas-fired heating.

The outbuilding

Following on from the 19th century house, this outbuilding is currently in use as a bright, 37 m² exercise room. It comprises a toilet, a shower and a 4-person sauna. Its external walls are enhanced with trellis and it has a terrace roof.

Our opinion

This relatively recent property would be ideal for a variety of projects. Good quality construction and decoration materials have been used. It is remarkably well kept which means that there is no fear of any unpleasant surprises or expensive and pointless expenses, almost like a turnkey property.
Within easy reach of both the town centre and the train station, a car could be considered unnecessary.
The possibility of walking or cycling along pathways and by the side of the river Cher or even boating on the latter will not leave new residents indifferent.
