appartments for sale - paris - 150 m from rue-des-martyrs

A 113 m², sunny flat, with three bedrooms and a balcony, at the end
of a little quiet street 150 m from the hustle and bustle of Rue-des-Martyrs
Paris, PARIS paris 75009 FR

Rue-de-la-tour-d'Auvergne is named after Louise-de-La-Tour-d'Auvergne (1667-1737) who was abbess of Montmartre Abbey from 1727 to 1735.
The street runs from Rue-de-Maubeuge to Rue-des-Martyrs where Théodore-Géricault lived, the house currently being no.19, from 1813 until he died in 1824. It was whilst he was in this district that he painted “Le Radeau de la Méduse” (The Raft of the Medusa). Louis Armstrong stayed in the neighbouring building on Impasse-de-la-Tour-d'Auvergne from September 1934 to August 1935.
Just a stone’s throw away, a large number of painters, writers, musicians and actors lived within a perimeter that was dubbed “Nouvelle Athènes” (New Athens) in the 19th century Restoration period.

Standing peacefully at the end of a no-through road, this 113 m² flat takes up the entire second floor. It comprises a south-facing 29 m² lounge, a west-facing 11 m² dining room, three bedrooms, each spanning more than 12 m², one facing west and the two others facing south. One of said bedrooms has a balcony. A bathroom, a shower room, a kitchen, two toilets and two cellars complete this flat. Entrance to the Haussmannian style building is protected by numerical keypad and interphone security systems. The floors are reached via a wooden stairway with a red carpet runner or via a glazed lift. There is a storage area for bikes and pushchairs.

The flat

The building, dating from after the Haussmannian era, stands at the end of a no-through road, guaranteeing peace and quiet. Its entrance features numerical keypad, followed by interphone, security systems. The second floor is accessed either via a wooden stairway, with a red carpet runner, or via a glazed lift. This flat, spanning the full surface area of the floor, has two entrances. The main entrance opens into a corridor which leads, right, to a toilet and a kitchen, the window of which looks out over a small courtyard. The following shower room could be used to increase the size of the kitchen. The corridor leads to a living room, spanning approx. 30 m², with two large, south-facing windows. The dining room, facing the shower room, is decorated with a white marble fireplace, topped with a mirror. Through a west-facing window it is possible to glimpse some superb houses, built during the 1920’s. A back bedroom has a similar view. Another door in the dining room opens into a second corridor which houses the flat’s second entrance door. It provides access to two more, south-facing bedrooms, one of which has a balcony. This corridor then leads to a large bathroom, with a window, and a separate toilet.

Our opinion

This co-owned building is well run. Renovation works could be carried out in order to modify the flat’s layout. But it will still be standing just far enough away from a district teeming with liveliness, young people and optimism. Set on the slopes of Montmartre, this is a flat where a single person, a couple or a family could live for a number of years.
