The 1st level of the flat
This flat’s double oak wood entrance doors, with their elegant handle, are set in a canted wall on the 7th floor landing. Once inside, the eye is immediately caught by the view of the Right Bank of the Seine through two wide horizontal windows. The floor is covered with natural oak wood parquet flooring, laid in a herringbone pattern. The wall housing the front door, concealed by a hanging, features panelling, also made of natural oak wood as are all the doors providing access to the various areas as well as the steps and risers of the straight stairway, balanced with a quarter turn at each end. The door and window frames, with their black satin finish, the wall patina of the bronze sheeting used in the stairwell as well as for the stringer and the dusty white walls, cornices and ceilings compose a most harmonious contemporary style.
On the right-hand side of the entrance hall, a fully fitted kitchen, also with parquet flooring like the rest of the floor, is separated from the living room by a sliding, floor-to-ceiling picture window which not only provides access to the shelves used for storing the tableware but also frames the view over the embankments and the Right Bank. The work surface is made of black granite and the floor cupboards are fronted with patined bronze. Further on, after the concealed door to the guest toilet, is an en-suite bedroom, featuring a wide floor-to-ceiling wardrobe, lined with oak wood sheeting. A west-facing terrace, planted with bamboo, extends the area outside. The bathroom is fitted with a bath, featuring wide, white resin edges. Its walls are covered from floor-to-ceiling with Roman travertine stone, filled with black resin. Other features, including black, matt finish taps, a hanging wash-hand basin, clad in natural oak wood, and a white ceiling, all reflect the same hues used throughout the flat when it was completely renovated in 2017.
1950’s architecture features enlarged openings which are a godsend when the entire Right Bank is laid out on the other side of sober picture windows. The terrace, here, is a belvedere, in one of Paris’ most majestic districts. The interior decor, with its pure lines and noble materials, exudes perfect elegance. A third bedroom could easily complete the existing two. This 2-storey flat, with the river at its feet, the Golden Triangle in its line of sight and light from the wide skies over the Ile-de-France region, is the reality that a dream could become.
