appartments for sale - paris - montorgueil district

A 58 m² flat in the Montorgueil district
on the top floor of a 17th century building

Between Rue-Montorgueil and Rue-Etienne-Marcel, on a street lined with 17th and 18th century facades. This district is part of the French capital’s historic centre. It is not only very old but also much sought-after by young Parisians. Les-Halles underground and RER train station makes it possible to move easily around the French capital and the Ile-de-France region.

The 17th century dressed stone building is rendered. Under a Mansard style slate roof, its sober facade features cornices as well as a string course running around the building separating the three levels of tall windows, free of surrounds, with their stylised railings. The pedestrian door, with its security system, has moulded wooden panels. The entrance hall, with its oak wood parquet flooring in hues of grey and white, leads to the original, wide stairway. This 58 m², very quiet, through flat is on the third and top floor. Facing south and west, it provides unobstructed views of the sky and wonderful old facades. The entrance hall provides access to a bright, 16 m² kitchen, with an eating area, and a 24 m² living room. Both have oak wood parquet flooring and are illuminated via shed dormers. Cathedral ceilings above exposed beams go up to a height of more than 3.60 m. On either side, an 8 m² bedroom, followed by a spacious, 10 m² bathroom and its dressing room. A storage area adjoining the flat is in use as a linen room. This flat is in a good state of repair.

A quiet flat steeped in light

A quiet flat steeped in light
The access stairway, made of wood and terracotta tiles, is listed as a French Historic Monument. The glossy white, armoured landing door opens into a 16 m² fitted kitchen with an eating area, topped with exposed ceiling beams that go up to a height of more than 3.60 m. A west-facing window provides a panoramic view over the Parisian facades and the sky. The kitchen’s white walls and oak wood parquet flooring extend into the 24 m² living room, creating a warm and welcoming area. This through living room is illuminated via two windows, one overlooking a quiet, inner courtyard, the other looking out over the sky, the rooftops and the district’s 17th & 18th century facades. The cathedral ceiling enhances the feeling of airiness and tranquillity. Next are an 8 m² bedroom and a spacious 10 m² bathroom comprising a shower, a bath and a dressing room. White ceramic tiles with black inlaid decoration cover the walls and the floor. Light comes in on the north and south sides via traditional shed dormers. On the landing and adjoining the flat is an area in use as a laundry room. This flat also comes with a cellar.

Our opinion

Living peacefully in one of the French capital’s liveliest districts, moving into a building dating from the 17th century just like all those around it and gazing all day out over the Parisian rooftops and sky are just a few of the things that the new owners can expect from this flat. Listing the advantages of this ultra-central district would be a waste of time; it has everything.
