As soon as one passes the porch, a long façade reveals this family home's conventual history. Surrounded by stone walls and pruned hedges, the park descends, as if guided by an Italian landscape designer, over several levels towards the forest. The Transalpine influence can be felt inside with elegant hues of yellow and grey. It is hard to believe that this bountiful and flowery paradise with blue skies on the horizon is so near to Paris.
We spent our youth in Paris. When we had children, we wanted somewhere greener and quieter near to Paris with a rich history and where we would feel safe. Noisy-le-Roi seemed to tick all of those boxes. We are in the heart of the village with a relaxing environment, despite being so close to Paris, between Versailles and Saint-Germain-en-Laye which are both steeped in history.
Our house is a former convent, it was built in the 16th century by the Dukes of Gondi whose chateau was adjoined. During the French Revolution, the convent was confiscated and sold to lay people by the Estates General. The transformations they made gave it the typical appearance of a grand 18th century house with large windows and French doors.
The history of the house is closely linked to château des Gondi which welcomed Saint Vincent de Paul (tutor of the Gondis) future king Louis XIII (who hunted on the Gondi land which would one day become the palace of Versailles) the conspirators of the Commune around Cardinal de Retz and the young daughters of Madame de Sevigne before they moved to Saint-Cyr.
Calm, serenity and rest. The house is surrounded by a two-hectare park which borders the forest of Marly and has direct access to it. It is a place that is close with nature.
We enjoy walking to Marly-le-Roi and having lunch in one of the restaurants on the Grande Rue. We would recommend visiting the Château de Monte-Cristo, home of Alexandre Dumas, as well as La Malmaison, home of Josephine de Beauharnais.

The part of the house reserved for guest rooms has an independent entrance and a large room at the entrance which is also the dining room. When it's cold, the fireplace keeps the place warm. Each room is uniquely designed and has a shower room and separate toilet.
