Location

This site, set in the rolling countryside of the Upper Chevreuse Valley Regional Nature Park, abounds in superb historic heritage.
The village, just a stone’s throw from the national Rambouillet Forest, is renowned for its golf course and its equestrian activities.
Two neighbouring towns, less than 5 km away, have all shops and amenities. Schools, a bakery and restaurants are to be found in the village. Paris and Orly airport are but 45 km away via the A10 motorway.
Saclay as well as Massy TGV and RER train stations can be reached in 20 minutes.

Description

The small medieval town, with its houses and gardens laid out on the side of a hill, exudes charm, inciting daydreams and long walks. This property stands next to the buttresses of a Romanesque church, in unspoilt surroundings and with unique views. Comprising a main, 160 m² house and a self-contained, 25 m² studio flat, it can be reached via a little paved street which goes up towards the church from the corn market square.

The main house

The main house is laid out in an L-shape under a gable roof, covered with flat tiles. Garden level

Facing east, towards the hillside, this night-time section has solid oak wood parquet flooring throughout. Its superb roofing framework has been left exposed. On the right-hand side is a single area, comprising a living room and an open-plan kitchen, the high ceiling going up to the exposed roofing framework. A fireplace stands against the east, gable wall. This property, reflecting true modernity, opens on to the garden via the long, glazed, south-facing facade.
Lower Level 1
A wide stairway, illuminated via the atrium window, provides access to a third area which comprises a study-library, a bathroom, a toilet and a bedroom, directly linked to the bottom garden terrace.

The self-contained studio flat

This stone construction, designed as an artist’s studio and opening on to a private wooden terrace, is covered with flat roof tiles. Created in 2016, it spans one continuous 25 m² area with a separate toilet and a shower room.

The garden

The terraced, south-facing garden is sheltered and enclosed. It is enhanced with an ornamental pool, providing a pleasant, cool atmosphere. A 12 m² wooden shed was recently constructed on the bottom terrace.

Our opinion

Once in the garden, visitors’ eyes are immediately drawn to the view of the Romanesque church which dominates this much sought-after village. Umbrella pine and lilac trees, which take over the hillside during the springtime, complete this picture. The property is immaculately kept, in tranquil surroundings, ideal for taking a walk in the forest, horse riding or playing golf. New owners can relax here of a weekend or adopt it as their main residence, given its proximity to Paris. The very recent, self-contained studio flat could be used as an artist’s studio, as an office for someone seeking to work from home or as accommodation for family and friends.
