The proximity of the N13 as well as the A86 and A14 motorways make it possible to reach Paris or Versailles in 20 minutes. Constructed in the late 19th century in accordance with the English style town-garden model, the town of Vésinet is listed and provides its inhabitants with a very safe living environment as well as a rare and comfortable quality of life.

This house was designed by an American firm of architects who took their inspiration from the other side of the Atlantic: vast rooms, wide picture windows all on a level, bedrooms fitted with dressing rooms and bathrooms, etc. Set on a private avenue, not far from the Grand-Lac-des-Ibis, in a 1,278 m² garden, its 420 m² of living space are spread over two levels, in addition to a 100 m² basement and a double garage.
The ground floor comprises a vast, 103 m² reception area composed of a vestibule, a lounge with a fireplace, a dining room and a library-smoking room; a large kitchen with its back kitchen fitted with a laundry area; a cloakroom adjoining a guest toilet; a back entrance as well as a flat consisting of a bedroom, a lounge and a shower room with a toilet, all on a level with the garden.
Three of the seven bedrooms laid out upstairs have a dressing room, a bathroom and a balcony. The other four share a bathroom and a shower room. There are also a vast music room with a mezzanine, a study (or a bedroom) and an extra kitchen (or bathroom). The upstairs is also reached via a back stairway.
The basement, spanning approx. 100 m², is divided into several areas including a lounge, a games room, an exercise room, a wine cellar, a linen room, a boiler room and storage areas. The floors are covered with parquet or marble flooring. The decor is enhanced by an 18th century fireplace, 19th century panelling and hammered wrought iron stair railings.

The house

Ground floor
The large vestibule provides access, right, to a lounge, adorned with an 18th century stone fireplace, as well as to a smoking room which is also used as a library. On the left-hand side is a dining room, leading in turn to a large kitchen. Its back kitchen, also reached via a back door, includes a laundry area. Facing the entrance are a cloakroom, a guest toilet and a flat comprising a lounge, a shower room and a bedroom. This entire floor opens all on a level on to the garden, reached directly via numerous French windows.
First floor
A white marble stairway, with hammered wrought iron railings, leads up to a very large landing, laid out as a music room. This level comprises seven bedrooms. Three of them have a cloakroom, a bathroom and a balcony overlooking the garden; two others share a shower room and the last two share a shower room. There are also an extra kitchen and a study, both of which could be respectively converted into an additional bathroom and bedroom.
This level, spanning a floor surface area of approx. 100 m², is divided into two. On one side are a lounge, a games room and an exercise room; on the other are a wine cellar, a linen room, the boiler room and several storage areas.

Our opinion

This outstandingly functional house, exuding a puritan elegance, brings a little of the American way of life to the middle of Yvelines: from the impressive kitchen to the vast reception rooms, everything has been designed to facilitate entertaining, guest mobility and the conviviality of the living room by making the best use of the garden all on a level. Standing peacefully at the end of a no-through, verdant road, whilst protected by its own, delightful green open space, this home would suit a large family seeking to live together with no loss of individual privacy. As regards everyday life, work and leisure activities, this property is a haven of peace in the heart of a quiet town, barely 20 minutes from the French capital.
