The traditional Mas house
This traditional Mas house, spanning a single storey, was constructed in the 1970’s. It was completely redesigned through the creation of large rooms. The floors are covered with bare or painted parquet flooring. A large, 53 m² bedroom, on the south side, has its own shower, bath and toilet. Another bedroom has a shower and a toilet as well as a mezzanine, with a sleeping area and a bath. An adjoining attic could be transformed into a roof terrace. Both these rooms already open on to a south-facing, shady terrace. A third bedroom, with a shower and a bath, opens on to a large, north-facing veranda which can also be reached from the outside and overlooks the stream. A wooden walkway provides access to the swimming pool terrace. The 4th bedroom, with an original shower featuring a large shower tray as well as a toilet, communicates with a small wooden terrace on the north side. The basement comprises a laundry room, a cellar as well as a bedroom, with an entrance on the garden level and its own shower room and toilet. Adjoining this section is a glazed area created by a naval architect. It spans a floor surface area of 63 m², has a very high ceiling and comprises a lounge, with a fireplace, and an open-plan kitchen, topped with a mezzanine-library. The floor is made of polished concrete. Large, sliding, picture windows make it easy for residents to go out to the swimming pool area. The roof of this glazed area is flat and widely overhangs on the west side, thus shading a section of the terrace.
The glazed extension has a Jean-Nouvel style roof. But it, above all, reflects a naval architecture which, considering it is 10 minutes from the sea and in front of a swimming pool, is quite understandable. It introduces a transparency justified by the abundant natural surroundings. It boldly and harmoniously adjoins the traditional Mas house. These premises would ideally lend themselves to a bed & breakfast activity as, easy to move around, they are enhanced by the vegetation, the sun as well as the peace and quiet. Hiking in the surrounding hills completes the local water sports. The well-being of the residents is assured in this easy to reach property.
