Location

In a vine-growing region, 40 minutes from Toulon TGV train station and 55 minutes from that of Aix-en-Provence, 40 minutes from Hyères airport, 90 minutes from that of Nice and 70 minutes from Marseille-Marignane airport, 40 minutes from the sea. The village and its shops are 5 minutes away by car.

Description

This building, in a dominant position, was originally a little hunting lodge constructed in the 1970’s and then extended. The hill on which it is built is a starting point for long-distance hiking trails and, although set in the peace and quiet, this house is not completely isolated. A suberb view, from the terraced land where numerous fruit trees have been planted, stretches over the valley and the surrounding hills. The dry stone walls supporting the terracing are in a good state of repair and feature alcoves, in which it is possible to sit down, as well as stairways.The outbuildings provide many facilities such as a garage, a workshop and an additional dwelling in the form of a wooden chalet, where water and electricity are laid on, and there is also an old stone cabin.

The house

This house, with its simple architecture, spans approx. 115 m² of living space. It is predominantly all on a level with the garden, apart from one bedroom upstairs which can also be accessed directly via the terracing.
The main, south-west facing facade, decorated with a double overhanging cornice, features 3 windows. The two downstairs bedrooms and the one upstairs all face south-east.


Ground floor
The front door opens into the main room, adorned with a stone fireplace as well as large and small beams. There is a little adjoining kitchen. A corridor leads to a bedroom, with large, built-in, panelled cupboards, as well as to a shower room, with toilet, and a separate toilet. This level has parquet flooring throughout except for the second bedroom which has floor tiles. This room, with exposed beams and a large, exposed stone alcove, is fitted with a shower, set directly in the rock. A French window opens on to the garden.
First floor
A small stairway goes up from the main room to the upstairs bedroom. This large room is fitted with cupboards under the slope of the roof, a wash-hand basin and a toilet. It has exposed beams, parquet flooring and a door, providing access out on to a little terrace laid out on the terracing, near to the old stone cabin.

Our opinion

Cypress trees, sun-warmed stone and terracing form the outlook from the large rooms in this home. A pleasant setting that is not disturbed by this reasonably sized, easy to maintain dwelling. There is nothing to prevent new owners from extending it or installing a swimming pool. Ideal for nature lovers as well as enthusiasts of long walks and children would be able to run freely around the grounds and the surrounding hillsides.
