In a vine-growing region, 40 minutes from Toulon’s TGV train station and 55 minutes from that of Aix-en-Provence, 40 minutes from Hyères airport and 90 minutes from that of Nice, 60 minutes from Marseille and 40 minutes from the sea. Shops are less than 10 minutes away. The last house before the hill, this property is set in a tranquil, dominant position. With its clock tower, its bell-tower and its square surrounded by one hundred year old plane trees where a small market is held, the nearest market town is crossed by the river Issole which bestows it with a special charm. Houses bordering it have a view of the water flowing by and the series of little bridges that cross over it, providing access to the gardens.


This stone house, once a sheepfold, spans approx. 180 m². It is ideally located in a peaceful setting without being totally isolated. Greatly extended, it is now almost all on a level with a variety of roofs. Most of the grounds are spread over the hill and the land around the house has been terraced. On the north side are mature oil-producing olive trees and, on the south side, a 12x7 m infinity swimming pool (as well as a small pool) and an orchard. The large, south-facing terrace is made of teakwood. A stone cabin stands on the west side and another, near to the pool, is used for pool machinery.

The house

Ground floor
This house can entered directly via one of the main room’s three French windows (with two other entries on the south side and one on the east side). This large, 55 m² room also has an east-facing window and an extremely convivial, central fireplace. An American-style kitchen has been installed on the west side. This vast area provides access to two wings. The north-east wing comprises a bedroom, with a south-facing window and French window, a west-facing bedroom, a shower room with a toilet, a laundry room and a study-bedroom providing an exit on the east side. The other wing, facing south-west, includes two south-facing bedrooms, one of which has a French window opening on to the teakwood terrace, a bathroom, a toilet and a laundry room. The floors are covered with terracotta tiles and certain ceilings are sloping or feature an exposed roofing framework.

The study-bedroom features a stairway leading upstairs to two bedrooms with skylights.

Our opinion

Although the layout of this house can easily be changed, it is already comfortable to live in as, apart from two bedrooms, it is all on a level and features numerous French windows, making the main rooms extensions of the garden. It would also be possible to extend it a little further if required. These premises are steeped in tranquillity, ideal for coming to recharge one’s batteries in the sunshine whilst contemplating the view or taking long walks through the hills and small valleys in this region, dotted with vineyards and wine-making estates.
