This multi-coloured construction, spanning approx. 1,000 m² of living space and dating from successive eras, predominantly reflects the 19th century style. It is built over superb vaulted cellars and has spacious, luminous and well laid out rooms. A vast kitchen, once used for professional purposes, adjoins a large dining room, extended by an unusual round, chapel-like area, on the ground floor of the tower. A spiral stairway goes up from here to all the floors. The first level, with the building’s main entrance on the east-facing upper garden level comprises an entrance hall, once a reception area for the hotel-restaurant, providing access to the various reception rooms (lounge, offices, library and smoking room) and the utility rooms (toilets, storage and hall areas as well as a small staff flat, a laundry room, a boiler room, etc.). Nine superb bedrooms, each with their own bathroom, are to be found on the two upper floors opening on to the parklands and the terraces. Other large rooms complete the building (additional bedrooms, a billiards room, etc.)
The annex farm
In the parklands on the east side, at a short distance from the chateau, is a vast semi-detached farmhouse spanning approx. 400 m² of living space over four levels with an independent access possible from the country lane. Major works involving the carcass intending to make it habitable having been undertaken several years ago, this large building is but in need of the completion of its interior conversion works.
The parklands, pleasantly surrounding the property, comprise wooded areas, gravel courtyards and lawns. An 8x4 m swimming pool on a lower level makes it possible to take advantage of the panoramic view over the valley and the distant mountains.
This chateau stands in a village in Savoy’s Chautagne region, featuring vines as well as lakes, which is becoming more and more sought after. Once a well-known hotel-restaurant, it has now become a private property, made pleasant to live in by its dominant location set in rural, quiet and unspoilt surroundings, even though its parklands are not extensive. Its proximity to large urban centres, its vast living areas and the propitious layout of the rooms are all good reasons for renovating it as a hotel. And with minor, carefully conducted restoration works, it could, for little cost, also once again become the private noble residence that it long was.
