In the midst of the network of villages typical of the area known as Sologne-des-Etangs, the nearest shops, including a bakery and a grocery, are less than a 5-minute car drive away.
The nearest town is 15 minutes away by car and has all amenities such as shops, schools and motorway slip roads.
The large, luxurious home
The origins of this large, luxurious home, constructed on a promontory dominating the north section of the property, date back to the 16th century. It was, at this time, a hunting lodge. The main building, spanning three levels including an attic floor, was redesigned and extended in the 19th century by adding to its ends two symmetrical pavilions, only one of which is still in existence. This pavilion is constructed in the same style as the initial building with two levels, rendered facades, a hip, slate roof, featuring bull’s eye windows, as well as dressed stone jambs and quoins.
The second house
A private driveway off of the road leads directly to this house.
This brick building spans two levels, one of which is under the rafters. Its gable roof is covered with slate and features two roof dormers on each of the north and south facades. An extension has been added as a continuation of the existing building on the west side. This house was recently fully renovated using first-class materials: insulation, heating, new door and window frames, etc.
The private, 1,500 m² garden, on the north side, is enhanced with a spa bath.
The third house
This rectangular house is similar to the second one: a brick construction spanning two levels, one of which is under the rafters. A terrace, on the east side, is extended by a 6,000 m² wooded garden, where an enclosed, 4x12 m, heated swimming pool as well as a spa bath were installed in recent years.
The stables and the independent dwellings
A building on the south side of the courtyard comprises two independent dwellings: a caretaker’s 3-roomed dwelling spans 52 m² and a second studio flat spans 28 m². Both were recently renovated.
This brick building, its gable roof covered with interlocking tiles, is extended by stables, with five separate horse loose boxes, including two foaling stalls, a tack room and a grooming area.
The “pavilion” and the swimming pool
Near to the large, luxurious home, in the midst of the parklands, stands a fully renovated building used as a guest house. It has brick, lime-rendered walls and a hip roof covered with local flat tiles. Rectangular in shape, it comprises a living room, with a fireplace and a ceiling stretching up to the ridge, a fitted kitchen, separated from the main room by a bar, a bedroom and a bathroom, with a toilet. There is underfloor heating in the living room, the bedroom and the kitchen where floors are covered with terracotta tiles.
Twenty or so metres in front of the house is a 5x12 m swimming pool, protected by wire fencing and a hedge. It is heated via a heat pump. Nearby, a little building topped with a hip, flat tile roof houses the machinery for the swimming pool as well as other tools.
The farm shed
A hundred or so metres from the parklands, on the edge of the wood, stands a large farm shed. Spanning a surface area of approx. 760 m², it is currently used for storage and workshop purposes. Both water and electricity are laid on.
The land, predominantly wooded (56 hectares), is laid out around the buildings, mainly on the north and east sides. Dominated by the large, luxurious house, grasslands and paddocks, enclosed by wooden rail fencing, extend over more than 17 hectares. In line with the house, beyond the paddocks, a lake spanning almost 5 hectares was very recently cleaned out and completely redesigned. Beyond, the woods are predominantly planted with oak and pine trees (governed by a Simple Management Plan) and wonderful bridle paths ideal for hiking or riding are regularly created.
The current hunting plan allows for the killing of 4 roe deer per season.
This estate, on the edge of a forest spanning more than 2,400 hectares, once a famous French king’s hunting grounds, had gradually fallen into a state of neglect until its current owners came to its rescue. It has taken ten years of works to give the property back its splendour of yesteryear and guarantee its future. With the exception of the large, luxurious home, the enhancing of which deserves to be completed, this entire property has been meticulously restored and perfectly maintained over the years as even the stables prove. In addition to its excellent surroundings, the many buildings converted into houses make this property as suitable for a hotel and catering project as for a family home, without compromising privacy.
