Beyond the medieval walls, a long, yellow, ocher facade closes the main courtyard as if to preserve the property's history. Some defensive features from its days as a fortress remain - namely the tower entrance (which still bares traces of the portcullis) and the moat that reflects the silhouette of the house rebuilt in the early 19th century. The interiors exude a sober elegance, the smallest detail awakens memories of a house passed down through generations and you can truly feel like part of the family for the duration of your stay.
It has always been a family home. It belonged to my husband's grandmother who was born in one of the bedrooms. Sixteen years ago, after a life of working in Paris and numerous trips around the world, we returned to our roots and have been welcoming guests here since 2013.
It is a 16th century chateau, the main building of which is long and rectangular. Surrounded by moats, the original architecture has been well preserved - the large Charles V tower, the stables and the two drawbridges still stand.
The original chateau was burned after the Revolution and then rebuilt by one of Napoleon's officers. During the Second World War, it was occupied and transformed into a granary. It has since been passed down from generation to generation, mainly by women.
We offer guests a simple, warm, refined and relaxed welcome in this authentic world we have created. We also offer them a spacious and comfortable living environment with tasty cuisine entirely created and produced by us.
Close to Martigny is the Renaissance village of Marville, rich in history, and the citadel of Montmédy. "Chez la fille du boucher" in Virton is a delicatessen serving specialties whose quality and traceability are coupled with an audacious and careful approach. Avioth is worth a visit for the 14th century Gothic basilica and La Grange which is an excellent restaurant serving seasonal and local products. Eaux Vins Mille Saveurs in Épiez-sur-Chiers is an inspired and passionate wine merchant.
The entire chateau with twelve rooms, a 1,200m2 park and outbuildings is available for filming and photo shoots. Crews can be accommodated on site. Additional accommodation is available at nearby properties.
