Description
The buildings to be used as houses
The first stone buildings stand facing the main entrance, on the left-hand side of the square courtyard. Two large buildings, separated by a porch way, could easily be converted into living space. The facades, featuring many windows, some of which have semi-circular arches, make it easy to imagine an internal layout with reception rooms on the ground floor and bedrooms upstairs. The stone masonry is outstanding. Next to the first farm building, on the property’s main facade, a vast garage or even additional rooms could be created. The current porch way could become a large function or reception room. The constructions on this side of the property represent a ground surface area of approx. 500 m², not counting any upper floors. Opposite, the layout is similar with a first building featuring two facade entrances and a vast barn. Then, standing at right angles to this group, is another building, ideal for accommodation purposes, extended by the old cowsheds and stables. And lastly, separate from the other buildings, a fourth house dominates the rear of the parklands. Its ground floor could easily comprise a living room with a kitchen as well as other rooms. The upstairs bedrooms will be ideally laid out courtesy of windows with views of the Lay Valley. This side of the property spans a ground floor surface area of more than 1,000 m².
The garden
A long alleyway, bordered by fields and trees, brings this property into view, initially with the square courtyard lined with various farm buildings. Parklands are, nevertheless, laid out all around these stone buildings. The unobstructed view from every section takes in the Lay Valley and the countryside, with the irregular-shaped fields separated by hedges and ditches so typical of Vendée.
Our opinion
All of these isolated buildings, with a backdrop of countryside and streams, are somewhat captivating. They are obviously waiting for the restoration of their splendour of yesteryear, that which is reflected, for example, by the superb semi-circular arched windows and their white dressed stone framing. Works have already begun with the restoration of the roofing frameworks and the roofs. The floor surface areas available are a golden opportunity. The lack of any nuisance is quite rare.
