The Moskova district of Paris is in the 18th arrondissement, bordering the 17th. This house is in a quiet, private street, dating from 1857, which, with its village appearance, is now open to traffic. The neighbouring houses are concealed by flowers and greenery. Most date back to the second half of the 19th century and have an air of a Paris no longer in existence. Bichat hospital and the French capital’s new law courts are nearby. Porte-de-Saint-Ouen underground station, on line 13, is 350 m away. The tramway from Boulevards-des-Maréchaux will soon pass along Boulevard-Ney, bringing it even closer.


This large family home, in the peace and quiet away from onlookers, stands in the middle of the property. It comprises a heated, indoor swimming pool, a Jacuzzi, a hammam, a paved, wooded courtyard spanning 80 m², an 88 m² terrace, seven bedrooms, a living room with a fireplace, a large, open-plan kitchen-dining room, with a storeroom, and an area for watching videos. The entire house is fitted with home automation which can be controlled either by tablet or by smartphone.

The house

The current version of this house, constructed in the centre of the property, was completed in 2002. It was built on the site of a garage which, in 1978, was used as a refuge by the gangster, Jaques-Mesrine, several days after his escape from La-Santé prison. It spans three levels in addition to a basement. The entire house can be controlled via tablet or smartphone courtesy of its home automation. Tall, solid metal gates provide privacy, keeping it out of sight of onlookers. It is accessed from the street via metal gates, protected by an interphone security system.

Ground floor
The front door opens into a 47 m² living room with its fireplace, in good working order. Two windows overlooking the passageway are fitted with metal safety bars providing privacy and two south-facing French windows, opening on to the inner courtyard, let in copious amounts of day and sunlight.
A corridor, at the end of the living room, provides access to a stairway going upstairs, to a toilet, to the pool-house and to a large, fully fitted, open-plan kitchen-dining room. It also has a storeroom. Light floods in through a glass roof. Following on from the dining room is an area for watching videos with its own projector, an electrically-controlled screen and a sound system. Then comes a stairway going upstairs to a bedroom.

First floor
The stairway in the home cinema section provides access to an independent bedroom. The south-facing wall features a sliding picture window, letting in copious amounts of sunlight. This room is air-conditioned.
Facing the main stairway is a 30 m² bedroom, with two windows and a French window opening on to the terrace. It is followed by a corridor where a dressing room has been laid out on either side. It also leads to a toilet and a bathroom, fitted with a corner bath, a shower and two wash-hand basins. It is extremely bright courtesy of two south-facing windows with a view of the terraces. Another bedroom at the end of the corridor has two west-facing windows and a third one facing south.

Second floor
This level comprises four bedrooms, one of which has its own shower room and toilet, a bathroom and a separate toilet.
The swiming pool
The heated, indoor swimming pool was built in a concrete vessel, measuring 7.5x4.4 m. It is bathed in daylight courtesy of three sliding picture windows, each composed of three panels. It is adjoined by a Jacuzzi. Behind a door is a pool-house, fitted with a hammam, a shower, a toilet and cupboards.
The basement, spanning a floor surface area of 40 m², comprises five areas. The boiler and laundry rooms are contained in one area. There is also a workshop, two cellars and a machine room for the swimming pool and the Jacuzzi.

Our opinion

A family home with an indoor swimming pool, a vast terrace and vegetation in an old district of Paris! A film could be shot in the paved street. This totally contemporary house fully integrates home automation which, with its remote controls, makes everyday life so much easier! It can accommodate a large family, with enough privacy for each of its members. Friends will surely find it difficult to take their leave.
