This mansion house, predominantly facing west, stands perpendicular to the street. It overlooks a paved courtyard featuring an outbuilding and several cellars, hewn in the rock. The residence was extended in the 20th century with the addition of 2-storey building.
The mansion house itself dates from 1853. As is often the case in this region, its walls are constructed from freestone and topped with a slate roof.
The hanging gardens behind the outbuilding are laid out on the terraced hillside and provide a panoramic view over the town.

The mansion house

This mansion house comprises a ground floor with a central vestibule and two rooms on either side, a first floor spanning three bays and a second floor under a Mansard style roof, illuminated via a central roof dormer and two bull’s eye windows, one on each side.
The extension, on the right-hand side, receives daylight via two French windows on the ground floor and a hanging roof dormer on the first floor. The architecture of this homogeneous property is classical.

Ground floor
The ground floor includes an entrance hall with a central stairway. On the left-hand side is a first lounge, with a pink marble fireplace and ceiling moulding. On the right-hand side is a second lounge, with a grey marble fireplace in good working order. These rooms feature terracotta floor tiles.
The tiled dining room is in the extension. One of its walls features exposed freestone. Also in this section is a fully fitted kitchen with a back kitchen and access to a first cellar, hewn in the rock.

First floor
This level comprises a small landing which provides access, straight on, to a toilet with a wash-hand basin, left, to a small bedroom with a bathroom and, right, to a bedroom with parquet flooring.
Second floor
The top floor, with a similar layout to the floor below, comprises a small landing leading, straight on, to a shower room with a toilet, left, to a bedroom with parquet flooring as well as a cupboard and, right, to a fourth bedroom with parquet flooring.

The outbuilding

The outbuilding, set at right angles, comprises a large covered area with a concrete floor. It provides access to two large cellars, hewn in the rock, on the ground floor. A stairway goes up to a gallery on the first floor and to the attic awaiting conversion in the extension.

The garden

The grounds comprise a paved courtyard with a lawn and flower beds. Steps go up from there to a verdant, hanging terrace with a dominant view over the house and the surrounding town.

Our opinion

A hanging garden, a little verdant patch that dominates the surroundings near to a very large town. Below, a first-rate, middle-class home, in a state of repair that does not provoke any fear of unpleasant surprises, outbuildings that reflect a variety of styles and cellars that do honour to the region. This mansion house, typical of the area, therefore has many assets. Another worthy of note is a free rein for the conversion of the upper level of the extension as well as the gallery above the covered area.
