3 hours from Paris by car via the A10 motorway. 40 minutes from Tours with its TGV train station, putting the French capital just 55 minutes away, and its international airport (90-minute flights to London).
The sub-prefecture of Loches, 15 minutes away, has all shops and amenities as well as two weekly markets. The mill is on the outskirts of a village which has the main local shops as well as a very good restaurant. A little, tree-lined alleyway leads to the gates of this fully enclosed property.
This mill, fully renovated in 1998, resembles a long, local farmhouse comprising a ground floor with an upstairs under the slopes of the roof. The facades are made of pointed exposed freestone and stone. The roof is covered with traditional tiles.

The guest house

The indoor swimming pool
Facing east-west, the indoor swimming pool can be reached from the guest house and opens on to several terraces. It measures 7.5x3.5 m and is heated via an economical heat pump. The building, with a central light well and large picture windows, is extremely luminous. It is also soundproofed. Near to the swimming pool is a small, fitted kitchen, a changing room, a shower room and a separate toilet.
The outside of the barn is in pristine condition as the roof has been redone and the walls re-rendered. It spans a spacious floor surface area for those wishing to convert it.
It is currently used for storage purposes and as an attic. A covered terrace, behind the barn, overlooks the river and is used for storing wood.
The annex buildings
An old vine-grower’s cottage on the property has been preserved and a carport has been created to accommodate four cars.
The buildings’ immediate surroundings include a central landscaped courtyard, flower beds, a vegetable garden, an orchard, an islet on the river, a weir, the fully operational mill wheel, enclosed plots as well as grasslands.
This property is immaculately kept.
The exposed beams of the roofing framework and the ceilings bear witness to the age of these fully renovated buildings. The river runs past at their feet. The mechanism and the wheel of the old mill are still in good working order. The only noise to be heard comes from the water flowing past and the wind in the trees. The natural surroundings form a protective companion. No works would be required in order to run a bed & breakfast or a holiday accommodation rental unit business which would, in fact, be enhanced by the current facilities that include an indoor swimming pool, an economical heating system provided by a heat pump, sensor activated lighting, a centralised vacuum system and burglar-proof glazing.
