On the outskirts of the Champagne region, a short distance from a small picturesque town, less than 30 minutes from the large, neighbouring towns and a little over an hour from Paris. This undulating region, covered with woods and vines, is dotted with miscellaneous architectural features, including wayside crosses and wash-houses as well as an emblematic chateau.
The main building of the flourmill is flanked, on the left-hand side, by the old abandoned house, once used by the workers and, on the right-hand side, by the large house that belonged to the owners. An original Art-Deco style bas-relief symbolising the miller’s trade is sculpted above the entrance door.
The mill itself is divided into several large areas, one neglected section of which, spanning more than 1,000 m², is used as a warehouse. The central section houses the association’s artistic premises. Renovated and converted over several levels, it comprises miscellaneous workshops, offices, studios as well as bathroom and toilet facilities over a total surface area of almost 500 m².
Above is a large, partially converted flat which precedes a vast room solidly structured by concrete pillars and spanning a floor surface area of more than 270 m².
The large house that belonged to the owners, on the right-hand side of the building, is a spacious, comfortable residence, spanning a floor surface area of more than 320 m², complete with a rear terrace. Other terraces are laid out on the roofs.
A modest garden, spanning a little over 1,800 m², stretches out at the base of the building.
The cost of property in this region, despite being near to Paris and easy to access, does not compare with that of the French capital. This is confirmed by this unusual building, both impressive and discreet, which for a reasonable price provides the wherewithal to install one or more activities in a surface area with extensive development potential. The house used by the workers, for instance, forms a vast space that is not currently used. The old house that belonged to the owners, with its Art-Deco features and its faceted tower, is also worthy of ambitious renovation works. The countryside is picturesque and this property stands on a vast plot a short distance from a large village full of character, which means that projects can be carried out without any risk of disturbing the neighbourhood.
