In the south of the French department of Finistère, in Quimper, a prefectural town just 3⅓ hours from Paris-Montparnasse via the new TGV train line and 1¼ hours from Paris-Orly by airplane.
This capital of the Cornouaille region, set on the Odet estuary, is known as a “town of art and history” courtesy of the quality of its architectural heritage. It is some 15 km from Benodet and the seaside. All shops, amenities and leisure activities are to be found in the town.

Description

This residence, standing in one of the town centre’s oldest streets, neighbours half-timbered houses, the corbelling of which leans towards the alleyways in the shade of Saint-Corentin cathedral.
It is set slightly back from the road, making it possible to park a car.
All shops and schools as well as the train station can be reached on foot.

The house

This house spans five levels.
It has just been completely restored and decorated to reflect the most contemporary of tastes. It has a rendered stone facade and a slate roof.


Ground floor
The front door opens into a large hall featuring a dressing room. A wood-burning stove takes pride of place. Straight on, an airy, open stairway leads upstairs. There is a lift on the left-hand side. At the back are a laundry-boiler room, a toilet and a door providing access to a small courtyard.
First floor
As on all the other floors, this level has oak wood parquet flooring throughout. This floor comprises a lounge, with a wide, gas-fired fireplace, a dining room and a fully fitted kitchen, illuminated via an industrial-style atrium window, as well as a toilet.
Second floor
This floor comprises a bedroom with a dressing room, a bathroom with a shower, a toilet and a terrace spanning approx. 20 m².
Third floor
The landing provides access to a bedroom, a bathroom with a shower, a toilet and a study.
Fourth floor
The large bedroom on this level has a sloping ceiling. It has its own bathroom as well as a toilet and features a bird’s eye view of the cathedral and the rest of the town.

Our opinion

This is a dream come true of being in the centre of an old town, in a historic district with character houses, and of living in an ultra-modern house with pure interior lines, where everything is made for clarity and light to take pride of place. Above the living rooms, each floor is self-contained. A family will find such a layout ideal. All the family members will be jealous of the one lucky enough to get the top floor. But they will all be able to take full advantage of its sophisticated modern-day home comforts, starting with the lift.
