The town of Les-Lilas was created on 24 July 1867 from sections of the territories of Romainville, Pantin and Bagnolet. Les-Lilas owes its name not only to the flower-filled gardens that covered its hills under the Second Empire, but also to the open-air cafés with their dance floors, the cabarets and the cheap restaurants, from which novelist Paul-de-Kock took his inspiration.
This house stands in a quiet and pleasant, residential street. Numerous good shops and an organic, Friday market are in the district around Mairie-des-Lilas underground station, with its 20-minute links to the centre of the French capital. It is on line 11, a line that is in the process of being extended eastwards. There are also numerous theatres, cinemas and sports centres.


This house, a 7-minute walk from Mairie-des-Lilas underground station, is in a residential district, near to all amenities. It comprises three levels and a basement, with a floor surface area of approx. 200 m², between two wooded gardens, one of which, spanning 95 m², is unoverlooked and a 40 m² planted roof terrace. This east-west facing house receives a lot of sunlight.
The ground floor provides access to an entrance hall, a storeroom adjoining a kitchen, opening on to a living room, with a fireplace, illuminated via large picture windows, opening on to the garden. On the left-hand side are a study and a guest toilet, with a wash-hand basin. The ceilings go up as high as 9 metres.
The first floor landing provides access to a first bedroom, with a bathroom and a spa bath, a shower, a separate toilet and a dressing room. A walkway separates the two sections. Opposite are two bright bedrooms, a bathroom and a separate toilet.
A room on the top floor, fitted with a kitchen area, opens on to the 40 m², south-facing sun terrace with its outdoor shower. It is planted with bamboo and flowering shrubs.
The basement comprises a wine cellar, with a packed mud floor, a garage, a workshop, a laundry-boiler room and a toilet. A separate door provides access outside.
The garden, with a 35 m², tiled terrace area, can take an 8-seater dining table and a partially covered area is but an invitation to laze around in the shade. The garden is planted with birch and maple trees as well as, amongst others, hydrangea, hibiscus, magnolia and bignonia bushes.

Our opinion

This house combines a large number of sought-after assets such as tranquillity, despite being near to Les-Lilas town centre, spacious rooms, a garden, a fireplace, a garage, a workshop and a terrace. All the members of a large or a growing family can have their own private space both inside and out, courtesy of its four bedrooms, its garden and its terrace. Les-Lilas, a town in full expansion on the outskirts of Paris, with its many assets, its quality of life and its infrastructures, deserves to be better known.
