Location

Facing Toulon, in Tamaris-sur-Mer, the “French Riviera’ Bosphorus”, a holiday resort created in the 19th century by Michel-Pacha, who had 70 villas built in an oriental style to compose a decor inspired by the banks of the Bosphorus.
This 2-storey flat is in one of these houses, once a mansion house, it is now a co-owned building.
45 minutes from Toulon-Hyères airport, 20 minutes from Toulon TGV train station, 15 minutes from the motorway, 5 minutes by car from the shops and the sandy beach. Just a 5-minute walk from the shuttle boat crossing Toulon harbour to go to the market, the shops or the train station.

Description

The building, facing the sea, in 3,700 m² of heavily wooded parklands featuring a magnificent cedar tree, was constructed in two phases. The first section, built by a doctor in 1830, was then bought and extended by Michel-Pacha in 1890. This large manor house, bombarded during the Second World War, was finally transformed into 22 flats. The entrance door, with its security system, is on the north side, two transferable car parking spaces are available for the owners. The tall, straight, ground floor bedroom windows are topped with shells on the building facade.

The 2-storey flat

This 68 m² (64 m² under the French Carrez law) flat is on the ground and first floors, under another 2-storey flat. Access to the stairway, controlled via a numerical keypad security system, is on the south facade. The entrance door to the flat is at the top of the stairs on the first floor. It opens directly into the main room, with an ethanol fireplace, which leads via two French windows on to an east-facing balcony with a seaview. The small kitchen has a south-facing window. A stairway goes down to the garden level. This floor comprises a shower room with a cupboard/laundry room under the stairs, a separate toilet with a wash-hand basin, a bedroom with an east-facing bedroom and another bedroom-study with a dressing room, the French window of which provides access out to the garden such that residents can sit at a table at meal times or relax in the sun.
This unoverlooked flat, in a good state of repair, has been renovated in an Italian style with stone floors and given a sheen on the walls and the doors.

Our opinion

This pied-à-terre is in an excellent state of repair. It does not need a great deal of upkeep and would be ideal for regularly spending a few days holiday under the blue sky as if in a little house courtesy of being able to eat outdoors. Its location, facing the sea, in a heavily-wooded district makes it possible to take advantage of the early morning sun before setting off to the market or to the train station on the shuttle boat across the harbour, going to the large sandy beach at the end of the cornice or walking along the coastal path - all guaranteed to provide a change of scenery.
