220 minutes from Paris via TGV train or 70 minutes via airplane. A few kilometres from the beaches in the south of the French department of Morbihan and from Lorient with its five ports. In the heart of a town with 3,000 inhabitants, labelled as one of Brittany’s rural heritage towns (Commune de Patrimoine Rural de Bretagne). Schools and shops are nearby.


The property, set out alongside the river and spanning over 3,000 m² of land, comprises a main L-shaped building, two outbuildings as well as the vestiges of an old 16th century chapel, of which remain but two walls (apse and nave) with semi-circular arched openings. A courtyard and a vast garden complete the property which can be accessed via two entrances.

The house

The main house, spanning almost 500 m² over several floors, consists of three connecting buildings. The first two buildings have rendered walls under a slate, sprocket, hip roof for the first and gable roof for the second. They are connected to a local quarry stone building set at right angles with a tile roof.
There is a terrace in the corner formed by the two buildings set at right angles.

Ground floor
From the garage in the first building, a flight of steps leads to an entrance hall on a half floor and, from here, a stairway leads up to the ground floor. A corridor then leads to a large and a small lounge with strip pattern parquet flooring, a laundry room, a toilet and (in the building set at right angles) a study, a dining room, a kitchen, a back kitchen as well as a third lounge with a cathedral ceiling and a mezzanine floor.
First floor
The first building comprises two bedrooms with their bathroom and the second building, via several steps, three bedrooms with a bathroom.
Attic space spans half the building set at right angles.
A stairway leads from the entrance hall to a vast basement comprising four areas converted into an exercise room with a shower room and toilet, a workshop and two storage rooms, all spanning a total of over 200 m².
Near to the third building, a small shed spanning approx. 15 m² adjoins a lean-to.
The first shed is followed by a building spanning approx. 85 m² that could be used as a closed garage or a workshop.
The first floor of this local stone building with its tile roof comprises a self-contained studio flat spanning approx. 47 m². It includes a living room with an open-plan kitchen area and a bathroom. The ground floor consists of an open space that could be used for parking cars or storing tools.

Our opinion

One of the lounges with its high ceiling, the basement areas and the outbuildings are all extremely spacious. Each of us could give free rein to our imaginations and come up with completely different projects for reviving the overall character of the property. Having the nave of a four century old chapel as permanent decor can but inspire new owners.
