Location

This fully restored, traditional Bastide house stands, on the side of the Durance, between two of the most appreciated regional parks in France.
Forty-five minutes from Avignon and Aix-en-Provence TGV train stations as well as Marseille-Provence airport. Fifteen minutes from a golden triangle formed by the villages of Eygalières, Saint-Rémy-de-Provence and Baux-de-Provence.

Description

This vast estate, on the outskirts of a small market town, once home to Knights Templars where it is still possible to admire a castle dating from the 13th century, is highly representative of the Provence region.
The architecture of this 17th century sheepfold, typical of the area, and the 23 hectares of land surrounding it give the property its authenticity.
The driveway leading to the residence, bordered by pine and olive trees (the oil production of which is sufficient to supply the restaurant), is already steeped in the peaceful atmosphere that reigns over the estate.
A free-form swimming pool adjoins the sheepfold’s terrace.
The immense vegetable garden, at one end, has organic certification and its produce bears the “Marque du Parc Régional Naturel des Alpilles” (brand name of the Alpilles Regional Nature Park) label. Next to it is a tennis court.

The main house

The full restoration works, carried out during the 2000’s, have in no way altered the authenticity of this property.
The unobstructed view over the parklands, planted with lavender, as well as the swimming pool and the vegetable garden is an invitation to relax and enjoy the tranquillity exuded throughout the premises.


Ground floor
Bordered by terraces on all sides, the ground floor is extremely pleasant courtesy of its coolness, even on the hottest of summer days. A soberly decorated entrance hall provides access to the ground floor. It leads to a semi-professional kitchen, a lounge complete with its bar, adjoining the dining room on the left-hand side, as well as its holiday accommodation section on the right-hand side. On this floor of the holiday accommodation section are two bedrooms, each with their own bathroom, an office, a lounge and a large living room. Away from the main rooms are a laundry room, a linen room and a garage all a necessary part of the holiday accommodation section.
First floor
An open-plan stairway leads up to the first floor rooms. On the left-hand side of the stairs are an office, three bedrooms and their bathrooms, one of the bedrooms has a terrace with a completely unobstructed view of the Alpilles mountains. On the right-hand side of the stairs are eight bedrooms, each with its own bathroom and toilet, as well as a terrace.

The swimming pool

The free-form swimming pool, right next to the building, is fed by a waterfall.

The olive grove

Spanning four of the twenty-three hectares belonging to the property, the olive grove produces an olive oil with organic certification, bearing the “Marque du Parc Naturel Régional des Alpilles” label.

The organic vegetable garden

The size and layout of this vegetable garden make it outstanding. Its produce is sufficient to supply the restaurant. Similarly to the olive grove, the vegetables produced here have organic certification and bear the “Marque du Parc Naturel Régional des Alpilles” label.

The restaurant

Adjoining the vegetable garden and looking out over the lavender fields, the gastronomic restaurant seats fifty covers or, if used for a function, it can take up to 110 guests.
Its panoramic view over the estate and the Alpilles mountains make this a pleasant spot all year round.

Our opinion

This impressive building, nestling amongst lavender bushes and olive trees, is an invitation to come and stay in Provence.
The cultural wealth of this estate coming from the vegetable garden, as well as the production of its own olive oil, is but one of its assets. The perfect blending of the intrinsic beauty of the premises with the rarity of the facilities makes this a totally unique property which is but waiting for a new lease on life.
The tranquillity and the relative isolation that characterise the setting, contrast perfectly with the atmosphere of the neighbouring high-class villages.
