Lapa, its palaces and its botanical gardens ever invoke the power of the Portuguese empire, when intrepid caravels defied the oceans to the end of the world, in quest of wealth and parts unknown. Now the seat of the Portuguese government and embassies, it is still the most aristocratic of districts. On the top two floors of a Pombaline style building, this flat spans a total of 110 m². It was renovated throughout in 2017 and each floor has a lounge and a kitchen, in addition to bedrooms with balconies and views of the Cristo-Rei (Sanctuary of Christ the King monument) and the Ponte-25-de-Abril (25 April suspension bridge). The classical layout is bright and elegant. A clever addition on these latitudes is the solar panels, installed for heating water. It is worthy of note that it is possible to rent a nearby parking space. The amazing view from the 22 m² terrace takes in the mouth of the river Tagus. An old Greek legend has it that here, at the very end of the earth, the Sun’s horses plunge into the ocean every night.
