Location
In Neuilly-sur-Seine, facing the lush green shores of the Île de la Jatte, the houseboat is attached to the shore by mooring ropes on an arm of the Seine that is rarely used by commercial traffic, in a natural setting abounding in unspoilt flora and fauna. The Duke of Orléans acquired the island in 1818, and it became a popular leisure destination in the second half of the 19th century. The many "guinguettes" (outdoor taverns and dance venues) on the banks then attracted the stylish and affluent elite of Paris, with artists such as Van Gogh and Monet immortalising the landscape. Today, the area is residential and highly sought-after, just two kilometres from Paris and at the foot of the La Défense towers. In terms of public transport, the Pont-de-Neuilly metro station (line 1) is just a 5-minute walk away, while numerous shops, entertainment spots and schools are nearby.

The houseboat
This is a large river barge, 16.50 m long and 7.60 m wide, floating on the Seine and attached to the bank, with a floor area of 163 m² spread over two levels plus a 30 m² terrace. A Temporary Occupancy Agreement (COT) issued by the French navigation authority VNF grants the right to moor on the riverbank and authorises residential use. Access is via a private gate from the street, which leads first to a garden on the shoreline, and then to a gangway. The main level comprises an open-plan kitchen and dining room, with a large window overlooking the Seine. The flooring is of straight strip hardwood and there is a gas fireplace. A few steps lead up to the sitting room with its floor tiled in a chequerboard pattern and panoramic views over the surrounding scenery. Another few steps lead up to the terrace, sheltered from the wind and looking out proudly over the water. The terrace features various green plants, an automatic watering system and an outdoor sitting room where a barbecue could be set up. There are two bedrooms, a shower room and a lavatory. On the upper level, the master bedroom has an en suite bathroom with tub and a closet with access to the terrace. Further on, there are several storage areas and a laundry room.
Our opinion
Living by the water, with ducks and herons as your only neighbours, just two kilometres from Paris. Like the prow of a ship, surrounded by an environment as rare as it is enchanting, the houseboat bathes in the spectacular light show of this branch of the Seine, as the seasons go by, all the way to the horizon. Here, the future inhabitants of this unique residence will enjoy a sense of immensity, freedom and seclusion. The high-quality renovation of the interior leaves nothing more to be desired. The completely redesigned spaces harmoniously blend together to form a flowing ensemble.
