An undisturbed, luminous studio flat awaiting renovation
in a timeless courtyard on the Ile Saint-Louis
Paris, PARIS paris 75004 FR

Location

In the 4th arrondissement, halfway between the Latin Quarter and the Marais, on one of the two inhabited natural islands of the Seine, whose history is closely linked to that of King Louis IX. Originally, it was made up of two smaller islets: Île Notre-Dame and Île aux Vaches (cattle island), where Saint Louis came to pray in the 13th century. On this uninhabited scrubland, legend has it that the king took up the cross before embarking on a crusade in the Middle East. The waterway that separated the two islets was filled in 1614, under Marie de Médicis. Thus, the two islands became one: the Île Saint-Louis.
The building is located right in the heart of the arrondissement, on rue Saint-Louis-en-l'île. Private mansions and 18th century edifices follow one after another on this street, which is known for its food shops and restaurants. The nearest metro stations are Pont-Marie (line 7) and Saint-Paul (line 1).

Description

Located in the heart of Ile Saint-Louis, the flat is easily reached by metro from Pont-Marie station (line 7) and Saint-Paul station (line 1). It is close to many restaurants and shops. The impressive carriage gate leads into the paved courtyard of the commonhold, which exudes an atmosphere where time seems to have stood still, with its wrought iron gate, wooden letter boxes and the hand-painted sign of a former children's shoe shop. The studio flat is located on the third floor - without lift - and has a floor area of almost 16 m². The square-shaped main room features generous volumes thanks to the ceiling height of roughly 3 m. There is a shower room with toilet in a discreet corner.

Our opinion

This peaceful district, where residents and shopkeepers live side by side like in a village, is part of the historic setting bordered by the Seine, the epitome of Parisian tourism. The Ile Saint-Louis is a melting pot. However, the residents are bound together by the same commitment to a unique heritage where sumptuous townhouses and buildings of more modest origins coexist in a beautiful architectural harmony. They all share the same passion for a style of life that only the "Ludovisiens", the local residents, can claim, set apart from the bustling city beyond the arms of the Seine that surround it.
The flat is at the heart of this universe and reflects its uniqueness. Although it is already functional, some refurbishment work will transform the property into a highly attractive rental investment for its future owners.
