Our opinion

In the heart of Kensington, a collection of artists' studios dating back to 1890-1891. Built by Charles Frederick Kearley, this secluded spot has attracted painters, architects and designers, drawn by the natural light and Victorian tranquillity. Redesigned by architect Christopher Smallwood, who lived there for twenty-five years, it combines authentic spaces with contemporary elegance. The double-height reception room, bathed in light from huge windows, houses the living room and dining room. The fireplace, decorated with tiles by William de Morgan, reflects the architectural standards. Upstairs, two bedrooms with en-suite bathrooms occupy the attic space. The house opens onto a conservatory and then onto the communal gardens, planted with fruit trees and rose bushes, a real asset both for privacy and for extending the living space. Its location within the Edwardes Square Conservation Area places the property close to Holland Park. Recent improvements allow for peaceful living and give future occupants the opportunity to continue the work already begun.
