Description
The main house
The building has not undergone any alterations. It has retained its 17th and 18th century appearance.
The ground floor
After a double oak door, on the left, the cement-tiled entrance hall leads to the kitchen, the staircase, the corridor leading to the laundry room, the dining room and lounge. The kitchen has retained its Volvic stone floor, as well as its monumental fireplace, also in Volvic stone, decorated with a coat of arms with boar heads and a cast-iron plaque decorated with fleurs-de-lis. The Volvic stone sink and kitchen garden, and the French ceiling, bear witness to the house's past. The dining room, also tiled with Volvic stone, has a French-style ceiling and walls decorated with ornate plasterwork featuring bunches of cherries and pears in relief. A French window leads to the garden. In the adjoining salon, other plasterwork evokes themes that were popular in the 18th century: hunting, music, vines and theatre. There is still a discreet system that was used to call servants; a reminder of the past way of life.
The first floor
The Volvic stone staircase leads to a landing with four bedrooms and three shower rooms. A tiled corridor leads to the rooms opening onto the garden. The bedrooms have either parquet flooring laid in English style or flooring that faithfully imitates it. The French-style ceilings and the volume of the rooms retain its original spirit.
The intermediate level
An oratory, cross-vaulted and with oak parquet flooring, occupies the space between the two floors.
The second floor
One bedroom with a tiled floor overlooking the garden and the Chaîne des Puys.
The exterior
A wooded, enclosed garden is revealed to the rear of the residence, planted with ancient trees such as ginko biloba and a swimming pool.
Our opinion
Sheltered behind its walls, draped in its green finery and secret garden, this 17th-century residence tells the story of the discreet elegance of a bygone century. Its privileged location on the outskirts of Clermont-Ferrand ensures a rare balance between urban life and country serenity. The wealth of original features - Volvic stone, plasterwork, French-style ceilings - makes this a house full of character, steeped in history, enveloped in a gentle melancholy by the surrounding vegetation. A choice address, where time seems to stand still.
