Leading 18th century landowners in the Hesbaye region built monumental farms which bore witness to their social rank and wealth. This property in the area around Liège is built around an elegant house, reached via a robust porch way in total accordance with local tradition. A dovecote still takes pride of place in the centre of the courtyard, a rare privilege for the time. A decree dating from 1712 stated that an estate had to extend over more than 13 hectares before it could have a dovecote. The intention was to limit the number of dovecotes so as not to damage local crops. This estate also features a recently renovated flat as well as numerous outbuildings and a swimming pool in the midst of wooded parklands. Residents can live in a farm chateau just a few kilometres from the “Fervent City”.
