Description
The Dwelling
Built in the local architectural style, the house’s lime-pointed stone exteriors were constructed over cellars and topped with a flat tile roof. Fully renovated over the past eight years, providing it with undeniable comfort, while, at the same time, highlighting its inherent materials, its floor and roof are insulated, its wood-framed windows are double-glazed, some of its walls are clad in exposed stone and its light switches are porcelain.
The ground floor
Directly accessible from the southern courtyard or the gallery via a stone staircase from the western courtyard, this floor includes a large living area with a corner kitchen and an earthenware tile wood-burning stove, as well as a shower room and a separate lavatory.
The upstairs
A wooden staircase provides access to an immense bedroom under the eaves with exposed wooden rafters and unobstructed views of the vineyards and woods around the village, while, adjacent, a second bedroom could also be used as a wardrobe for the first.
The basement
Accessible from the western courtyard under the gallery, two adjacent cellars are located beneath the dwelling.
The Garden
Enclosed by walls, it is made up of two gravel courtyards, totalling a little more than 300 m², planted with trees and a number of flowerbeds, creating a pleasant space to read, relax or daydream on nice, sunny days.
Our opinion
This charming village house, not far from the renowned cities of Beaune, Cluny and Autun, is the perfect pied-à-terre for discovering the historical and cultural breadth of the Burgundy region, whereas its easy access from many of France’s major cities via either the motorway or high-speed rail makes it an ideal location for shorter weekend getaways. Recently and meticulously renovated and surrounded by its verdant garden, the house is ready for immediate use – without any question marks regarding its maintenance and management – as a comfortable residence, holiday home or a profitable short-term rental.
