Surrounded by the peaceful waters of the Gulf of Morbihan, the Ile-aux-Moines (Island of the Monks) and its 622 inhabitants are only a few minutes away from the mainland via the town of Port-Blanc. Featuring a breath-taking natural setting over only 3 km², with its paths, both inland and coastal, as well as secret beaches and village life, the island is only 20 minutes from the train station in Vannes, which provides service to Paris in 2.5 hours.
Description
From a quiet village lane, the dwelling can be glimpsed behind a tall wall, the wooden door of which opens on to the garden featuring a remarkable fig tree on its southern side. Directly opposite is the dwelling with its L-shaped flagstone courtyard and garden, while, on either side of the property’s entrance are two small outbuildings. As for the three-storey former fisherman’s cottage, with an attic level and local rubble stone exteriors decorated with ashlar stone window/door surrounds, it is topped with a slate roof.

A landing provides access to three bedrooms, two of which share a small wardrobe, as well as a shower room with a lavatory, while hardwood floors and exposed ceiling beams can be found throughout this level.

As Breton legend has it, fairies’ tears created the Gulf of Morbihan after they were forced to flee from the Brocéliande Forest. Now a regional natural park and considered one of the most beautiful bays in the world, the Gulf of Morbihan creates an ideal setting for a holiday home in the small village of Ile-aux-Moines. As for the property, dripping with charm and shielded from view behind its tall stone walls, its interior boasts a pleasant living space with three bedrooms and a converted attic space. Whether setting out from the house by bicycle, with a paddleboard under one arm, or relaxing in the garden, such are the joys of this island’s lifestyle, which will make it possible for its future occupants, in search of privacy and tranquillity, to disconnect from the stresses of daily life.
