Our opinion
A medieval town close to the ancient Spanish border, Alendroal forms a maze of picturesque alleyways, with whitewashed houses beneath the venerable walls of a castelo. The residence, one of the oldest in the village, is located near the central square. Painstakingly renovated in 2007, it has since undergone a number of additional improvements to make it even more comfortable. With a floor area of almost 280 m², the house includes four bedrooms and three bathrooms. The interior is sober, warm and rustic, with a striking slate and local stone floor. Outdoors, a large garden of almost 900 m² with fruit trees adjoins a second property included in the sale, comprising an orchard and a house now in ruins. The property is self-sufficient both in water, thanks to a borehole, and in electricity, powered by solar panels. During the hottest hours of the Portuguese summer, future inhabitants will be able to enjoy the pleasant swimming pool and the delightful beaches of the Alqueva, Europe's largest man-made lake, just a few kilometres away.
