Our opinion
In the age-old maze of white narrow streets in Estremoz, this old dwelling offers unrivalled views of the town’s rooftops and medieval castle. The edifice has belonged to the same family for generations. It includes a shop on the ground floor. This shop is currently being rented out. The liveable section has two levels. The decor is elegant and quaint. The property needs to be freshened up, yet it has some remarkable decorative and architectural features. Its windows and terraces look out at the garden and town. The vast garden is centred upon a large reservoir and lies beside an old stable. You could renovate the stable to then go galloping off on horseback to explore the unspoilt plains of Portugal’s beautiful Alentejo region.
