Our opinion
In Winchester, Hampshire, a historic residence built on the foundations of a former 10th-century monastery. The red brick façade features a symmetrical composition punctuated by tall sash windows. The former 10th-century monastery, which witnessed the marriage of Mary I to Philip of Spain in 1554, has preserved its treasures: Tudor fireplaces, moulded ceilings, patinated woodwork and Jacobean staircase. Seven bedrooms with en suite bathrooms make up the main floor, which is complemented by a separate annex. The walled parklands of approx. 0.21 ha are laid out around a historic stream, with vegetable gardens and orchards. Entirely restored, the property harmoniously combines its heritage with contemporary comforts.
