Our opinion
A Georgian farmhouse in the Piddle Valley, a testament to the British way of life. Built around 1790 and enlarged in the 1920s, Higher Waterston Farm was once a famous racing stable, the birthplace of Gold Cup winners. Set between the green hills of Dorset and Dorchester, it offered its successive owners a country retreat from the hustle and bustle of the city. Brick and flint clad the facades, while the 3.2 hectares of gardens unfurl their structured perspectives. The formal garden features terraced lawns linked by ashlar steps, punctuated by a brick gazebo and an old drinking trough. Equestrian past or family residence? No matter! It's all about charm. Just a stone's throw from the Jurassic coast, the residence combines authenticity and serenity in a timeless setting.
