The history of Mallorca’s “Posesiones” or country estates is closely linked to that of the Spanish Reconquista. These vast farming estates were given out to the most faithful subjects of the Aragon and Castille crowns, when the island was taken back from the Moors. Even now, the name designates the biggest properties in the Tramuntana mountain range to the west of Palma. This particular one, dating from 1771, extends over 70 hectares on the heights of the village of Alaró. The main house spans a total floor surface area of 400 m² over two levels. The authentic decor is typical of Mallorca with cement floor tiles, exposed beams, a fireplace and lime-rendered walls. Numerous outbuildings, including an oil press-house and a small chapel, complete this estate, dotted with almond and olive trees as well as vines. This property already holds a tourist licence and building permission has been granted for the installation of a swimming pool. It is in an ideal location, between two mountain peaks, in the shade of an outstanding pine tree, classified as island heritage.
