Description
The house
The ground floor
The entrance opens into a hall with a cathedral ceiling, into which light streams through two skylights. It leads to the many different spaces on this level of the house. Opposite, there is a vast room used as a lounge and dining room, adorned with an open-hearth log fireplace and sliding patio doors through which the veranda and covered patio can be reached. Following on, there is an open-plan space previously used as an office. To the left of the hall, a corridor leads to the kitchen, lavatory and an extra room once used as a laundry room. To the right, another corridor fitted with cupboards houses the stairs to the upper floor as well as another staircase leading to the basement. It also leads to a utility room leading into the garage, as well as a bedroom and a bathroom. The floors on this level are all paved with terracotta tiles.
The upstairs
It can be reached from the entrance hall via a U-shaped concrete staircase, with a wooden banister and a balustrade in smoked glass. At the top of the staircase, there is a tiled mezzanine with a wood-panelled ceiling. The many openings and skylights allow light to pour into this space, which overlooks both the entrance as well as the living room and leads to three bedrooms with modern wood stripped flooring, a tiled shower room and a lavatory. Two bedrooms overlook the garden while another opens onto a patio boasting remarkable views over the surrounding landscape.
The basement
This level is semi-underground and includes a boiler room with a gas boiler, a cellar and a space split into three sections awaiting conversion.
The grounds
The grounds have a surface area of 1,085 m² and are enclosed by a cedar hedge running from the entrance of the property to the house, and by a high stone wall built alongside the swimming pool and veranda.
The grounds contain many trees and shrubs and extend across the foreground of the plot, in front of the dwelling which stands at the far end. They can be reached from the house, either via the veranda or from the living room.
It features a sunken, rectangular, concrete swimming pool with a liner, measuring 5 metres by 7 metres, with a depth of 1.2 to 2 metres, surrounded by decking.
The pool's technical facilities are situated in a building separate from the house.
Our opinion
This architect designed house is originally laid out, with ample volumes in which each occupant can enjoy peace and calm in the bedrooms or take advantage of the friendly atmosphere of the large living room. In short, it is a select address, with bright, comfortable interior spaces boasting soft colours and pronounced lines, able to accommodate a large family or group of friends. The garden and swimming pool ensure enjoyment of perfect tranquillity and relaxation in a green setting. Its assets also include its location, in the characterful town of Fontaine-lès-Dijon, just a stone’s throw from Dijon, its gastronomy, wines, cultural scene and easy-going ambiance.
