Location
In Brittany’s Finistère department, Lanildut is known for its impressive homes, built by shipowners and coasting skippers, who brought wealth to the Pays de Léon region in the 17th and 18th centuries, while the village itself has been recognised as emblematic of Brittany’s rural heritage. Thirty-five minutes away the high-speed rail station in Brest provides train service to Paris in 3.5 hours, whereas the Guipavas airport, with national and international destinations, can also be reached in 35 minutes.
As for the ferries to Ireland or Great Britain, they depart from Roscoff’s port, less than 1.5 hours away, while the beach, a yacht club and a marina with anchorage are only five minutes away and the closest shops are all within walking distance.

The Dwelling
The ground floor
The foyer provides access to a large living room with white walls and a parquet floor, which, once divided up into smaller rooms, is now completely open, while, on one side a sitting room features dual-aspect windows, a fireplace, a wood-burning stove and pointed stone walls. On the other side, a dining room is flooded in light thanks to its window, whereas a doorway provides access to the kitchen and pantry. As for the kitchen, it communicates with a patio, which descends to the garden, while a lavatory and the entrance to the basement can be found towards the back of the living room.
The first floor
With parquet floors throughout this level, an immense central landing, large enough to accommodate bookshelves and accessible via a staircase, features several windows, a pointed stone wall and provides access to a study, with a window facing the sea, two bedrooms, one of which has sea views, a bathroom with a bathtub and shower, a lavatory, as well as an enclosed balcony.
The second floor
This floor includes four bedrooms as well as a library, all in great condition, while, with parquet flooring throughout, the walls are painted white. In addition, two bedrooms face the sea thanks to dormers, whereas the library boasts a skylight and the rooms in the back, overlooking the garden, are also crowned with skylights.
The basement
Made up of three cellars, which are used for storage, several basement windows provide ventilation for this level.
The Garage
Located at a right angle next to the garden and currently separated from the dwelling, it is used for storage on one side and as a professional office on the other, but could also easily accommodate vehicles or a boat.
The Garden
The garden is accessible from the patio next to the kitchen or from the sidewalk via a pedestrian gate. Blanketed in grass and large enough to accommodate a table or a lounge chair, it is bordered by flowerbeds and shrubs.
Our opinion
Facing the waters of the estuary and only a few steps away from the beach, a part of Lanildut’s past is still visible within this dwelling’s very walls, while its large proportions, fluid layout and separate outbuilding provide great flexibility in terms of usage. Surrounded by breath-taking coastal landscapes that are some of the most emblematic of northern Finistère and the Pays de Léon, this eye-catching dwelling is the perfect place to get away from it all.
