Our opinion
A contemporary, elegant residence inspired by the authentic estates of the Alentejo region. Built in 2012, this country retreat is the work of João Favila Menezes, an architect from the Atelier Bugio. The grounds extend over two hectares, surrounded by unspoilt countryside and peacefully grazing farm animals. The most tastefully decorated main house has a floor area of 296 m², complemented by an independent studio flat. The carefully designed garden surrounding the swimming pool was created by landscape architect Teresa Barão from the Atelier Topiaris. The complex is well insulated, with air conditioning and an anti-seismic system. Two wells have also been created on the property, complementing an efficient rainwater recovery system. There are solar panels connected to the electricity grid to ensure that the estate is completely self-sufficient. The views of the Alentejo countryside from the outdoor patios and terraces are superb, especially as the starry nights here are reputed to be the most spectacular of the European continent.
