Our opinion

In the Sierra, water has always been the deciding factor. The ‘albercas’ – these stone basins – once collected water from springs to irrigate the orchards. The one on this finca has stood the test of time. Now restored, it reflects a veranda covered in vines, whilst the old farm shed that stands beside it has been converted into a summer dining room. All around, across nearly 3 hectares, water continues to work its magic: olive trees, fruit trees and nearly a hectare of irrigated vegetable garden make up a bountiful landscape. The main house and the guest house, each warmed by its own fireplace, stand in the midst of this garden, whilst a shaded sitting area, further up, awaits a reader or a painter. Just one kilometre from Aracena, a property where everything thrives – starting with the desire to stay.
