Our opinion

On the edge of Dartmoor National Park, an estate whose history dates back to the 16th century. The Grade II listed main manor house, built from local stone with a thatched roof, has stood the test of time before undergoing restoration that preserves the authenticity of the materials while meeting contemporary expectations. The location is ideal for those seeking proximity to Chagford without sacrificing tranquillity, and the commanding position offers unobstructed views as far as Castle Drogo. The five bedrooms, each with its own bathroom, are located on the upper floors. On the ground floor, the reception areas follow one another: bright living rooms, a dining room extended by a pantry, and a kitchen opening onto the gardens. Two stone cottages and a traditional hall converted for receptions complete the ensemble, a real asset both for hospitality activities and for considering a family residence. The equestrian facilities, six stables, riding arena and barns attest to the vocation of the place. The grounds cover some 12 hectares of gardens, meadows and ancient woods. A Neolithic cromlech punctuates the estate and gives it its unique character. Recent improvements allow for a smooth takeover and leave the next occupants with many possibilities for development.
