Our opinion

1860 was a time when Ciutadella was still building upward to escape the heat without turning its back on the street. This house belongs to that precise moment in the city’s history, when each floor offered a little more coolness and privacy, and when the green shutters served a climatic purpose before they were a matter of aesthetics. The renovation respected this original intent rather than altering it. The wood, the stone, and the proportions of each room still tell the story of how people once lived in a city closed in on itself, turned toward its courtyards rather than the outside world. Four levels, a patio, two terraces under the Ciutadella sky. The city has continued to exist through this house more than it has passed through it.
