Our opinion
In the 17th century, owning a tower in the Mani wasn’t a matter of comfort. It was a statement. Families fought for height, for stone, for that silent right to dominate the landscape and those who lived there. A tower built in 1600 has stood for four centuries with the tenacity of structures that have never needed an explanation. From the summit, the Aegean Sea stretches as far as the eye can see. It was already there in 1600.
