Description
The garden-level floor
The entrance hall connects to two bedrooms, one of which lies in a former reading room. The hall also leads to a lounge – a former reception room in the chateau. A masterful restoration project has showcased original decorative features here. The room’s coffered ceiling painted white pairs well with its solid-oak parquet floor. The tones of the walls recall the garden outside. All the rooms look out at the terrace and garden through large windows and glazed doors. A bathroom with a bath and shower lies beside a lavatory.
The lower level
From the lounge, a flight of stairs of marble and wrought iron leads down to the chateau’s former kitchen. An old oven made of brick has been adapted for modern equipment fitted in it. This spacious room is suited to both cooking and to meals together. An adjoining pantry brings together storage spaces and household equipment in a neat arrangement. A second flight of stone steps leads straight to the garden and terrace. On one side, the kitchen connects to a hallway that has been turned into a small lounge. On the other side, it connects to a bedroom with a shower room and a separate lavatory.
The studio apartment
The studio apartment is completely self-contained. You reach it via the chateau’s monumental staircase. A large roof window fills the space with natural light. The dwelling was recently renovated and insulated. Storage spaces, a sink and a little refrigerator form a kitchenette. A shower room with a tiled shower unit and a lavatory complete the dwelling. This studio apartment could serve as an extra bedroom or as a guest room.
The court and garden
A terrace forms a transitional space between the dwelling and the garden. Part of it lies beneath a wrought-iron veranda with a style that matches the edifice. The private garden extends from the terrace. You can reach it straight from the bedrooms or lounge or from a flight of steps from the kitchen. It is made up of grassy spaces and clusters of flowers. Part of it follows the natural relief of the land. A garage can be used to park a vehicle and store tools. The property's electric gate leads to it.
Our opinion
This ground-floor chateau apartment with a private garden is a delightful gem. It is rare to find such a dwelling in the Paris region. The edifice’s commonhold arrangement spreads the upkeep costs for the owners, for example for the building’s recent facade and roof renovation. The self-contained studio apartment offers the possibility of extra uses, whether as a furnished dwelling to be rented out or as a professional workplace. In short, this unique property brings together the attributes of a majestic chateau on its own small scale. It would delight anyone looking for a jewel of built heritage with a natural backdrop and a well-maintained environment.
