Location
The apartment occupies a prime position on the Île Saint-Louis, one of the most sought-after addresses in the capital — at once central and secluded. Set apart from the bustle yet steps from the historic heart of Paris, the neighbourhood offers a pleasant, lively setting: the Seine embankments, fine food shops, and a village atmosphere. Notre-Dame Cathedral and the Marais are within walking distance, combining elegance, calm, and cultural life. Access is easy via Métro Line 7 at Pont Marie and Line 1 at Saint-Paul.
Description
The apartment occupies the fourth level, reached by a striking quarter-turn wooden baluster staircase with an open central well. It covers approximately 90 m² of living space across three levels.
The main level comprises a large reception room combining sitting and dining areas with an open kitchen. A working stone fireplace anchors the space. Three windows fill the room with abundant natural light. Terracotta tile floors and exposed joists add character. This level also includes a bedroom with en-suite bathroom. Access to the apartment currently runs through the lower level, though creating an entrance from the main level is feasible.
The lower level contains an entrance, a separate lavatory, and a bedroom, with room to add a shower. Floors are parquet, and exposed joists mark the ceilings.
An upper level — which could also have its own independent access — houses a dual-aspect mansard bedroom with a view of Notre-Dame Cathedral, an en-suite shower room, and a lavatory. Parquet floors and exposed beams carry through the character of the level.
All rooms face east–west and enjoy unobstructed panoramas, complete privacy, and absolute quiet.
A cellar is located in the building's basement.
Our opinion
In one of the capital's most distinctive settings, this apartment captures the essence of the Île Saint-Louis — a place where time stands still, between history and a gentle way of life.
Spread across three levels, it feels more like a home perched above the rooftops than an apartment, with a fluid layout and multiple possibilities for use, aided by independent access points. Period features — terracotta tiles, joists, and a stone fireplace — play against the cross light and open views, lending the whole a warm, authentic atmosphere.
The view of Notre-Dame Cathedral, singular and precious, is a constant reminder of the exceptional nature of this setting.
