The old inn is strategically located at the crossroads of two village streets. Hidden behind the garden foliage, Maison Mastrorelli can only be seen once you go through its gate. Therein you will discover a haven entirely dedicated to relaxing by the long stone-bordered swimming pool, in the shade of the exuberant wisteria or in a deep outdoor sofa under a canvas sail. While the outdoors smells of the Mediterranean, inside it is the landlady’s warm personality that shines through in the eclectic choice of decorative objects that liven up the rooms and the furniture that smacks of a country holiday.
Coming across this building in 2019 was for me a revelation and a new beginning. I decided to concentrate my combined passions somewhere where I could welcome visitors, friends, artists, creators and epicureans to my native Côte d'Azur, in a place where the sweetness of life, comfort, sun, laughter and the pleasures of the table reign supreme.
Maison Mastrorelli is a 240 m2, three-storey stone bastide. The house has a refined, contemporary Mediterranean cachet due to its modern interior design, all while retaining its original features: oak beams, a vast carved wooden fireplace, original terracotta floor tiles, and unfinished wood. There is a clear contrast between smooth surfaces and original stone, a harmony of shapes and colours and attention to detail. The textures and materials evoke well-being, conviviality and comfort.
It is a former 18th-century coaching inn that I've transformed into an authentic, minimalist holiday home.
Here, we believe in smiles, warmth, hospitality and a sense of service. Before our guests even arrive, we invite them to tell us what they want, so that we can adapt the environment to their wishes. The outdoor areas are ideal for sunbathing, relaxing, socialising, garden parties and joyful dinners. Here, the essences of Provence and the Mediterranean appeal to our senses: lavender, roses from Grasse, orange, citrus, cactus, succulents, jasmine, wisteria, lime, magnolia, mimosa, bougainvillea. These all benefit from the renowned microclimate of the Cannes hinterland. Our guests have 2,000 m2 of green space at their disposal, with two swimming pools and numerous landscaped outdoor areas. The Mastrorelli table d'hôtes is congenial, family-friendly and unwaveringly Mediterranean.
"Daniel Desavie", a gourmet restaurant nearby, in Valbonne. "Heaven" in Roquefort-Les-Pins, is a simple and unpretentious restaurant just across the road, less than 100m away. It is a favourite of Maison Mastrorelli’s. "Da Bouttau” is the oldest restaurant in Cannes and probably hasn't changed its menu since the year it was founded in 1860. “La Colombe d’Or" is a local institution. It is home to artists and celebrities during the golden age of Saint Paul-de-Vence, and is at once superb, kitsch and nostalgic for a certain era of the French Riviera. Le Trayas, between Théoule and Saint-Raphaël, is a beautiful cove with ochre rocks, much loved by the locals. The long winding road from Grasse, passing through Saint-Vallier and heading towards Gourdon, offers spectacular panoramic views all the way to the sea.
