On the peninsula that juts out into the Argueron bay, the village was built in lines to protect it from the offshore winds. Long gone are the days when the inhabitants of Saint-Jacut lived off fishing and were isolated from the rest of the world. Now a peaceful seaside resort, it has nevertheless retained its unique culture and traditions. This house is part of this heritage. Its pink granite walls are simple and solid. But under the impetus of its new owner, it has been decked out in lacquered wood like a cruise ship. Your journey here will consist of roaming the many beaches and islands in the area, soaking up the sea air and the beauty all around. Ready to set sail?
I'm originally from Paris and came back to Paris in 2012 after more than 20 years living abroad and in other parts of France. After 12 years in the capital, this bed and breakfast project was born from a profound need for change and balance. Brittany has always attracted me. What makes it so special for me is above all its authenticity. It's a region where you can still feel the heartbeat of a deeply rooted culture, with its traditions, language, music and real attachment to local history. But beyond the cultural aspect, it's the landscapes that really move me: the wild windswept coasts, the peaceful beaches, the emerald sea, the coastal paths, the granite villages nestling in the greenery. There is a raw, simple yet powerful beauty here that soothes and inspires. I also have many childhood memories here. My parents and I went to Brittany every summer, often to the Côtes-d'Armor region. I have a very strong emotional connection to this region.
It is a classic little house, a former fisherman's dwelling dating back to the early 19th century, with two storeys and pink granite façades. The interior has been fitted out like the hull of a 1940s boat in lacquered wood. I wanted to keep the seafaring spirit without being clichéd. The house is two floors’ high, with a total surface area of 120 m2. Outside, the house has a small terrace at the front and a small garden at the back.
This house, which is 200 years old, belonged to the same family since it was built, and several generations lived here. It changed hands for the first time when I bought it in 2024. Photos Panna Donka
I wanted a warm, refined environment that was radically different from what was common in the region. I wanted something unique that would stand out from the crowd. The aim was to combine city sophistication with seaside charm. The interior also had to work in all seasons. I think the end result is exactly what I wanted. Contemporary, warm, welcoming, elegant and comfortable. I feel at home here and the initial feedback from customers has been very positive. It's a place that attracts curiosity.
In Dinard, the restaurant "Le Pourquoi pas" located in the former aquarium. The "Vent de vanille" pastry shop. I recommend the mille-feuilles and their ice creams. In Cancale, on the harbour, buying and eating oysters, then throwing the shells into the sea - a tradition here. At Saint-Jacut-de-la-Mer, when the tide rises, the Rouverte beach almost becomes a cove. A night-time swim under clear skies, with the stars and the silhouette of Fort la Latte on the horizon, is a timeless experience. Take the old carriageway linking Saint-Jacut to the outskirts of Saint-Briac, ideal for mountain bikes. At sunrise, to the south of the peninsula, on the Pointe du Chevet side, chat to the amateur fishermen while they are setting up their shrimp nets. In the Roué or Chatelet coves, at ebb tide, collect oysters that have slipped out into the mud. And to feel like you are the only one in the world: In Saint-Malo, arrive around 8pm at the small pebble beach, near the Tour Solidor, to enjoy the sunset over Mont Saint-Michel. At Cap Fréhel, just below the main cliffs, discreetly going eastwards, set down on a point of pinkish sand. In Dinard, the wild Esplanade valley, a small path hidden behind private gardens, which leads down to a corner of the beach, is the perfect place for a quiet moment at sunset.

The two guest bedrooms and their respective shower rooms are on the first floor. "L'île Renote" and "Les Oiseaux Bleus" are 15 and 13 m2 respectively, with queen-size beds and tea and coffee making facilities. Photos by Panna Donka.
